Estimating Breeding Value of Simmental in Semen Trait through Best Linear Unbiased Prediction (BLUP) and Animal Model

Abstract

Abstract: Breeding values of Simmental bulls in Guizhou were estimated in ejaculate volume, mobility, frozen-thawed semen mobility or production of frozen semen based on 7172 records from 2006, 2007 and 2008 through animal model and MTDFREML software. Then breeding value ranks were analyzed and comprehensive breeding values were estimated according to genentic characteristics of four traits in this experiment. As a result, the breeding values in each trait differed from each other and ten excellent bulls were 6021, 2190, 6019, 6075, 6059, 6053, 452, 439, 6051 and 6063 in comprehensive breeding value. This experiment will give some reasons for selecting breeders.
