Progress of Bovine Prolactin Gene and the Relationship of its SNPs and Milk Production Traits

Abstract

Abstract: SNPs was currently a hot research of genetic markers，prolactin (PRL) gene was one of the important candidate genes that associated with milk production traits. SNPs on PRL gene were related with milk yield，protein yield，fat yield，protein content and fat content，which could be used for maker assisted selection (MAS) in dairy cattle breeding. The article reviewed the structure and function，gene location，action mechanism of PRL and relationship of SNPs on PRL gene and milk production traits.
